I would follow him anywhere…

Ellie Bradford

I couldn’t tell you when I fell in love with Owen Harper. I just always was. And still am. He was my first everything—first love, first kiss and the only man that has left an indelible mark on my soul. I never thought that I’d call him anything but mine. But that was the thing about first loves. They weren’t made to last. Owen was destined for greatness, and I couldn’t be the one to stand in his way. So I broke both our hearts, and walked away. But after a heated reunion, I knew I’d made a mistake all those years ago and would do anything to start over — even move to a brand new city all by myself to win back my forever love.

Owen Harper

Ellie Bradford is the only woman I’ve ever loved—and the one who shattered my heart. The day she left me, I didn’t just lose the love of my life—I lost my best friend, too.

Five years later, I’m home at the end of hockey season and I see her again. One thing leads to another and our “one last night” together doesn’t go as planned. My feelings for her never left, but I realize closure just isn’t in the cards for us. One night would never be enough for us, but she wasn’t mine anymore. Then she showed up in Seattle, in the stands at my hockey game. Despite my intentions to move on, I offer her my spare bedroom when her new apartment floods. Even though I knew I should have been attempting to move on, it was hard not to feel like we were finally getting our second chance. I just hoped that this time, she would stay. For me and for us.

A sexy, second chance, roommates to lovers, sports romance from bestselling author Jennifer Chipman.

To anyone who loves childhood friends to lovers, this book is FOR YOU! Period. 😤💖 Okay, so technically they did date and broke up but tbh their origin story is childhood friends so it fits. Anyway Jennifer Chipman not only gave us a sports romance, but she also delivered the sweetest couple who sadly broke up in high school.. only to have everything change five years later after Ellie’s college graduation.

The chasing, the tiptoeing around each other, the tension!!! And not just any tension, but the "are you feeling this too?" followed by "nah, let me just ignore the obvious signs." 😂 I ate that all up!! Don’t even get me started on the possessive "You are mine." AGH 😭🔥 Yes, yes, and just for good measure YES.

The plot is simple but so addicting: Owen, an NHL defenseman, always thought Ellie was it for him. But after their breakup, he tries (and fails) to move on. Then Ellie moves to Seattle for a “job” (pls, we all know the real reason) and then… THE CHASING BEGINS. 🏒💘

Definitely the perfect cute and spicy book for those who not only love a head-over-heels guy determined to win his girl back, but also love seeing the girl making the big moves to chase her man too!

tropes
🏒 sports romance
🏒 childhood lovers to friends to lovers again
🏒 forced proximity
🏒 roommates
🏒 slow burn-ish

Thank you Jennifer Chipman for an eARC in exchange for my honest review

This was a cute fast read that was a solid 3 stars for me. I had a hard time wrapping my head around why these two had stopped speaking for 5 years when they both clearly cared for each other. I also had a hard time connecting with the characters fully and with the pacing. With that being said, I do love a second chance romance which is what this was. I also really like sibling's best friend which is ALSO what this was. I enjoyed the slight angst there was with these two after Ellie decided to move to Seattle to chase Owen. Upon arriving though because they were both afraid to say how they were really feeling, they became friends. There is something so deliciously tortuous about watching two people who have feelings or each other be "friends." I liked the boy obsessed aspect with Owen. He was kind of sly about it but clearly his feelings for Ellie had never stopped. I liked how good they were together once they got over their fear of rejection.

Ellie has just graduated from college but has no jobs lined up yet. She is more nervous about her party than what is to come because the love of her life who she had to let go 5 years ago will be there. The one SHE let get away but for good reason (at least that is what she thinks). And of course within a few hours of reconnecting they have an EPIC night together. Now she is even more lost. How can she still be hung up on her high school sweetheart after all these years? She makes a rash decision and moves to Seattle to prove to him that they can work. What she finds is an apartment that floods and the love of her life now saying he misses her and wants to be FRIENDS. But then things start to get confusing. He wants to hang out all the time. Wants her wearing his jersey at games. Wants her living with him while her apartment is being fixed. He wants her. And she cant hide it anymore. She wants him too. And now they are a thing and enjoying it. But they haven't put any clear boundaries on this. Is it the real deal to him like it is to her? Or is this more of a convenience thing while her apartment is out of order? Will she be brave enough to ask him?

Owen has delayed coming home long enough. He can't avoid it or HER any longer. Her being the love of his life, his sister's best friend, who ghosted him after dating for 4 years. She literally broke his heart. But that's ok because his life is great! He is living the dream minus the whole in his heart for her. So when they share an epic night together he vows that it will be the last time. He is going to move on. But then he sees her at one of their opening games of the season. She says she has moved to Seattle for a job. He finds himself being territorial over her with his teammates. He doesn't want anyone else to have her but is scared to open himself up again. When disaster strikes her apartment, he offers up his place. And now she is everywhere. He can't hide from her or his feelings any longer. He wants to spoil her and lavish her and make her his. And so he does just that. He feels like he is clear with his vision of them but when a miscommunication happens it's clear he wasn't. Will he be brave enough to hear her out? Or ghost her like she did to him all those years ago?

Like I said easy hockey romance read with a few of my favorite tropes but had challenges with a few things. With that being said, I liked the side characters but there were a LOT of them. I have a feeling there will be multiple series coming out of this one.

Thank you to Valentine PR and Jennifer for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!

oh my days.

this was so freaking cute and probably the most wholesome hockey romance ever?? like still thinking about them days later. jennifer has such a way with her characters that you feel like you know them personally. i loved ellie and owen's dynamics and personalities. CANNOT wait for the rest of this series and castleton university 💕

it was so heartbreaking for both of them when they separated after the one night stand 💔 but the way she moved to his state was actually the sweetest thing, like we love seeing girls in love here !!

if you're looking for a sweet, best friends to lovers to exes to lovers, with forced proximity, and an adorable dog, this is perfect!!! also check out jennifer's books if you haven't already - out on KU 🤭

thank you SO much to jennifer for having me on your arc team!! 🥹🫶

Oh well...
I don't care if i am not gonna be in the arc team next...
objectively good, but...

🌶🌶.5
A fair hockey romance
A good second chance
It's a cute romance...

- There were SO many then/now that really were too slow and without adding anything: Very sweet very cute, but i would've appreciate more if it was a sort of a BRIEF memory of the two as internal thought and not a straight up chapter of external flashback (still 1st person but it was exhausting)

- they are very repetitive... 5 years, scared of distractions, missing each other, just being friends... like, i get it it's the plot, but repeating it was flattening the storyline, and her indecision was making me crazy... felt childish.

- A LOT OF SIDE CHARACTERS: i loved it actually but unless you're planning to do a series about them they were unnecessary with too much informations...it made me want to pick a notebook and write down everyone whereabouts, but they were useless cause the author is gonna talk aboutvthe cousins which are barely even noted if it wasn't for groupchats

+++ i am petty, and the author asked me to be honest on goodreads, so here i am.
I shared a bit of my opinion on instagram where I stated more than once that this was a 5 star worthy book, that I rounded out at 4 cause for personal reason(similarities with a past relationship of mine) i couldn't enjoy it and even kept it author friendly (you can go see it on my ig, same username) but she didn't wanted be tagged. I didn't know MY opinion could get someone so sensitive about MY life experiences, i guess cause that's why it wasn't a good book for me. I even apologized when i wasn't disrespectful and as an arc reader is my 'job' to tell the author what i didn't like or i would've waited the book to come out.

Objectively, it was the best book for a booktok. The rules were there for it. But for me, it wasn't.

So yeah, read the book it was amazing, guys. 5 stars if it wasn't the worst bookish experience yet and a constant reminder of my fresh break up...jeez
other than that, everything was sweet and swoony. The characters' growth was cute (even if i wanted to stangle them)
The story plot was well written and emotional (yup, i cried, but are we even surprised?)
The vibes were cute.
SPICE ON POINT. I was blushing, and i don't blush easily, but anything else...idk

─ ARC review

★ ★ ★ 3/5

This book had me hooked from the start, combining the excitement of sports with a tender romance and characters you can’t help but root for. This book romance delivers all the right emotions with a perfect blend of tension, chemistry, and heartwarming moments.

The story follows a second-chance romance between two characters who find themselves living together as roommates— The sports backdrop adds another layer of excitement, while the dynamic between the main characters is genuinely captivating.

The tension between the characters builds up as they navigate their shared living situation, i liked the way they were still same (with each other when they talk or message) after everything they went through and loved all the cousins it made me feel like i was living with them :) the bond they all share, the banter and especially their texts chapters were my fave!

The chemistry between the Ellie and Owen is electric, and while there are moments of conflict and misunderstandings, they never feel forced. I loved their every interaction every banter way too much

Ellie, is such a sweet, sunshine girl who instantly warms your heart. My heart hurts for her, dream of going to olympics as a figure skater after her injury and ended her skating career, but she was strong she’s had to rebuild her life, finds a job and finds her way back to Owen. I love her character sm! Ellie’s sweet nature and determination to heal and move forward and win his heart back brings a sense of hope to the story. the way she moved in the same city for him and again she flew to his game just because she don’t wanted him to think that he’s not valuable— she carries an optimism that makes her character so relatable and lovable. I just love her!

Owen is the epitome of a "golden retriever boy"—sweet, loyal, and endlessly caring. A hockey player with a big heart, he’s the kind of guy who will do anything for those he loves. Whether it’s supporting his family, looking out for his teammates, or being there for Ellie, his genuine care and thoughtfulness shine through in everything he does. His love for hockey is matched only by his love for the people in his life, and his protective, yet tender nature makes him impossible not to fall for. And here let me remind you that he gets a golden retriever puppy so Ellie won’t feel alone in the apartment when he’s gone for the games! *in the world of boys he’s a gentleman*

He’s always looking out for Ellie, offering a steady presence in her life, and despite the tension in their past, he never hesitates to show how much he cares. His deep sense of responsibility and his ability to make everyone around him feel safe and valued give him such an endearing quality. He’s the type of person who knows how to listen, be there when it matters most, and offer support without expecting anything in return. His easygoing demeanor and loving spirit make him the perfect complement to Ellie’s sunshine personality, and together, their bond is one that feels both comfortable and deeply meaningful.

Though there were some predictable moments, the romance and character development kept me invested throughout. If you're a fan of sports romance with a strong, kind heroine and an emotional journey, this one is a must-read!

Thank you so much Jennifer Chipman and VPR for the arc!

4.6/5✨
3/5🌶️

I was mesmerized by this book cover and it's blurb, so I was super elated for being accepted for an early copy. Thank you Valentine Pr and Jennifer for this opportunity!

Ellie and Owen were always in close proximity thanks to their parents and siblings. Ellie had started to have a little crush for Owen even from a fragile age, which will just keep on growing. Later on, Owen will discover Ellie too, seeing her in a different manner. They were for a short time a wonderful couple, with such a beautiful connection and support from their loved ones. But life had other plans for them, which will led to a breakup, after Ellie decided to part ways.

This is definitely a second chance romance, because this beautiful love Ellie and Owen shared couldn't be extinguished. They will have another chance at being together, but this time the road will be a bit more difficult, because of some miscommunication, not being entirely ready to share some things with each other.

Ohh, this had such a beautiful love story! I adooored the way it grew in time and how pure their love was! Owen fell for Ellie later on, but he definitely became addicted to her and I hated to see how much he suffered after their breakup. It was so sweet to see how they slowly rekindled their relationship and how all that build up tension just exploded🔥. They were, for sure, soul mates, being hard for both of them to share their lives with someone else.

This was such a great read, with a first love which went beyond boundaries, proving that anything that stood in their way couldn't stand a chance. A one in a lifetime romance for our heros, which couldn't be denied by either of them. To this love story was added all the hockey parts, which completed so well this whole book.

"Her blue-gray eyes searched mine. I wondered what she saw there. My undying love and devotion? How much I craved her very being? That I was hanging on by a thread and desperate for her?"

🏒🐕

I don't know where to start. One moment I was craving my usual hockey fix so I decided to pick this one up. And the next thing I knew was that my hands were glued to this book and I physically could not put it down 🫣

A hockey romance featuring childhood best friend to lovers, second chance, and 'it's always been you'? Girl, you honestly had me at that adorable cover, but having all those tropes in my book? SOLD! If there's one thing you should know about me, I am a hockey romance and best friends to lovers hoe to my core, so Jennifer Chipman had the perfect recipe to do an absolute number on me.

And girl did she not hold back on laying one on me cause damn. This book had a direct line to my heart and stomach with all the flutters it made me feel 🫠 Owen and Ellie's story had me giggling, blushing, and combusting like nobody's business. I knew Jennifer Chipman can write fluff and spice, but the angst? Her angst is MY kind of angst. The pure longing, the unadulterated pining, and the sheer ache Ellie and Owen harbored for each other - those are the key elements that had a grip on my throat 🥹

The amount of times I was screaming on the inside, needing to reach between the pages and just bang Owen and Ellie's foreheads together to make finally make them talk their true feelings out? Countless. I was utterly consumed in wanting them to be together again 🤧 And when they finally did? I was drunk in fluff and spice just the way I like it 😏

I already can't wait for the next book, but thankfully I have their parents' books still sitting pretty on my tbr ready for me to devour 🤭

My deepest gratitude towards the lovely, Jennifer Chipman, for sending me an advanced readers copy of her latest baby 🩵

I received this ARC and I started it this morning and finished it just now!!!! I literally could not stop reading, I also could not stop crying. I’m not exaggerating when I say I probably cried 10 times in the past few hours.

This story is so sweet and so lovely, two best friends who grow up together, who love each other so much and just want the best for each other even if it means they themselves will be unhappy.

It makes you really think about how you talk to people and the things you say having power.
All it took was one little conversation overheard for their entire lives to be changed.

Series like this where it’s an extension of another series are my absolute favorite because you fall in love with characters and then you’re so heartbroken when you never get to see them again, and now you get to see the second generation.

Not to be dramatic, but I’m gonna be really mad if 10 years from now, Jennifer is not writing a third generation, I’ll be stomping my way up to Orlando!!!!

ARC book review
★★★.75/5

EEEK, thank you so much to Jennifer & her publishing team for the opportunity to read “uniquely in love” early! 🩵

second time ARC reading one of Jennifer’s book & at this point, I am convinced her books are just hands down a perfect book for anything sweet & light hearted.

I absolutely adored ellie & owens story, so much more than I had anticipated. a second chance romance is always a hit or miss for me but with their story + the childhood friends to lovers & them basically being each others first of everything, it just had me squealing the entire time. the past & present feature in this book also had me easily in love with them, seeing them just be so in love with one another, the whole skater girl & hockey boy moments, even after years passing. a lot of owen & ellie’s moments just had me swooned & giggly with their romance, I couldn’t get enough.

In all, I really enjoyed “uniquely in love”. It was amazing in so many ways. their story was captivating & just had me consumed from the start. I loved the found family moments with the rest, I am however, strongly invested in rhodes & sophias story so I’m hoping for a book for them!

ARC team review!

I always know a book by Jennifer Chipman is going to make me smile from ear to ear! This book had everything I love: hockey romance, friends to lovers, spice, great characters, and swoony moments. I found myself so immersed in the story and wanting the characters to just fall in love and be happy!!! I love the author’s writing as it’s detail oriented, but not too much information at once. Also, who doesn’t love a cute dog in a book??!!

ARC Review 🥅⛸️🌼🐾✏️☕️
Uniquely in Love by Jennifer Chipman totally blew me away! I loved how we got to see things from each character's point of view, both back then and now. It really made me feel connected to their journeys. The little snippets from the best friend book club were such a fun touch, showing how their parents interacted and adding a nice layer to the story.

And can we talk about the little snippets of the other cousin’s romance? I was so here for it! The spice was everything—super steamy and hot, just wow! Owen's treatment to Ellie was so sweet and everything, their connection is so special and ugh I just love them so much. Honestly, I think this might be one of Jennifer's best books yet. I was totally invested the whole time, and I just couldn't put it down!

THANK YOU FOR THR ARC

Jennifer Chipman has entered her hockey romance era and I am here of it!!🩵
I devoured Uniquely in Love in just two days and already can’t wait for the next book in the Cousin’s Coffee Club series.🤭

Owen is my new book boyfriend! I love this man sooooo much and my heart absolutely hurt for him when I read about his and Ellie’s past and how much it broke him.🥺 Owen is so loving, sweet, and protective of Ellie and those he loves, and that made me fall so much harder for him.🩵
He is just the perfect golden retriever MMC. I mean, he buys her a golden retriever puppy so she won’t be alone when he’s away at his hockey games. Does it get any better than that?!🥹🩵

Ellie is a sunshine FMC with a heart of gold. She has lot of layers and it took a while for her walls to break down and let Owen in, but her journey was so beautiful and I’m glad she fought for Owen and didn’t give up on their relationship.🩵 I love Ellie so much. She is so strong and it took courage for her to face her fears. I admire her and I’m so happy she got her HEA with Owen in the end.🥹

Ellie and Owen’s journey was one with ups and downs, so much heartbreak but also so much love. They are true soulmates and were meant to find their way back to each other. Their ending was so heartwarming and I am so grateful that I got to read an arc of their story.🩵

Thank you for another incredible romance book, Jennifer! I am honoured to be on your arc team and can’t wait for the next book in this series.🤭

Side note: After reading and falling in love with Uniquely in Love, I do personally suggest reading the Best Friends Book Club series first just because it will tell you the stories of all the character’s parents and how they fell in love. It is NOT necessary at all to read the Best Friends Book Club series first, but I will be making a plan ASAP to read that series now before the next book in this series releases, just because think I would have enjoyed it even more than I already did knowing the love stories of the parents.🩵

📚 Book #1 in the Cousins Coffee Club [Interconnected Standalones]
🏒 Hockey Romance
🗣️ Dual POV

If you want a hockey romance with some angst, and a golden retriever MMC then this is the book for you. Owen Harper is at the top of his career, making more money than he knows what to do with but he's lonely. He's missing the other part of his heart. His childhood love, Ellie.

Ellie broke it off with Owen her Sr year of high school [for reasons we find out later in the book] and they didnt talk for 4 yrs. Which is no easy feat since their mothers are best friends, Ellies best friends with Owens younger sister, and Owens best friends with Ellies older brother...the tangled web of all the "cousins".

Through it all, its "Only ever been you" for the both of them. We get to go back in the past to see their HS relationship, and then we follow them as we navigate through the current obstacles they face. All the while loving each other in silence so they dont get their hearts broken again [All the Angst].

The epilogue was great to wrap up Ellie & Owen story, but Im ready to see what is in store for Rhodes & Sophie...as well as Ellies older sister cause that was something we didnt see coming.

I am SCREAMING!!
This book is a prime example of why Second Chance will always have my heart!

The chemistry, the pining, the history - all of that together amounts to the MOST passion. I could not get enough of Owen and Ellie together. And every time Owen said "Ellie Baby" I completely swooned.

They were both so down bad for each other in the best way 💙

I also really liked the additional themes in the story aside from the romance. With Ellie breaking out of her comfort zone and moving to a new city, it was really sweet and inspiring to see her find her footing. I loved the way she built new friendships but maintained her old ones as well.

Owen was such a sweet book boyfriend. So dedicated to Ellie and so in love. He's a proud male supporter of romance books and a dog lover. A total sweetheart all around.

The extended friends and family group was really cute! I haven't read the initial Best Friends Book Club books yet but this book has pumped me up to read them because I definitely love all the family dynamics. The coffee shop + bookstore setting in the beginning was a total dream and I definitely need to know more about that world!

The hockey team was also a fun time, I am seriously looking forward to this expanded universe!

Thank you Jennifer Chipman for the ARC in exchange for an honest review :)

Thank you Jennifer for this arc! This was honestly so so cute and sweet and I swooned so hard!
When you read Chipman's work, you know you're guaranteed HEA and some proper cutesy romance.

I have only read Academically Yours, so I knew Owen's parents, but I need to read the rest of the series and I can't wait.

I feel like Ellie's accident was glanced over, but I adored her dream of being a teacher! How she upped and moved and went to go a get the love of her life.. so romantic.

Adored Owen! I want one... and Chipman is one of the few authors who help change my mind on blonde MMCs.

T R O P E S

💕roommates
💕childhood friends to lovers
💕a cute little pup named Zambi
💕sunshine x sunshine

This was very much a fast paced romance, so much so that it is realistic.

Reason for rating -
I feel like there was some miscommunication between the two when they were younger and one scene where Owen should have let Ellie explain some texts.
And this was very cheesy.. I think if they were a little older (maybe over 25) and spent more time apart after their teenage breakup, I think it would have showed more development?

Uniquely In Love ARC Review

i was very fortunate to receive an ARC of Uniquely in Love by Jennifer Chipman from ValentinePr, thank you so much!! 💙

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
🌶️🌶️.5/5

content warning: explicit sex scenes, strong language, discussions of pregnancy/pregnancy in the epilogue, and past anxiety attacks. there is absolutely NO cheating, and the couple are not with anyone else in the time they are apart.

“we were uniquely made for each other, and everything else was just inevitable.”

this was my first time reading anything by jennifer and i will definitely be binging her other work ASAP!! and i’m very excited to see where this series goes! i absolutely loved this book from beginning to end! i found myself reading it at every opportunity i could get! plus, i love a good best friends to lovers mixed with a second chance romance and this book definitely delivered! uniquely in love was the perfect mix of cute, sweet, and spice.

ellie and owen were so cute and in love. it was clear from the very beginning that they belong together and you can't help but root for them! they were the definition of right person wrong time and just the way the two of them realized that maybe they did need time apart to grow and believing they'd come back to each other, was everything. this book does contain a dual timeline and i loved that we got to see their past and present and how much they were able to grow both individually and as a couple.

thank you once again to valentinepr and jennifer chipman for giving me the chance to read uniquely in love early! 💙

If you want a fluffy, low stakes, childhood friends to lovers to exes to one night stand to friends to roommates to idiots to lovers romance... then this is it (try saying all that 5 times fast lol 😅)

💙 Childhood Friends to Exes to Lovers
⛸️ NHL Hockey Player
💙 Second Chance
⛸️ One Night Stand(ish)
💙 “& they were roommates...” 🤣

I didn't realize until I started this that this was the couples from the Best Friends Book Club's children's books. That is still my favorite series from Jenn, so this was really nice to dive back into that world and get reacquainted with my (now much older) friends. I will say though I was struggling to keep up with all the new characters and where all these children were coming from 😅. So I can only imagine someone just picking up this book without reading the first gen series, how confusing it might be... but not a huge deal. But on the plus side, it gives a lot of avenues for Jenn to traverse in the future with these characters which will be fun.

Ellie and Owen's love story was cute. Certainly some swoon worthy moments, and some typical Jenn spicy moments throughout which were nice. The start of this was really great with the flashbacks, that really amped up the emotional edge. I would have preferred a little more yearning from the characters before they jumped right into bed though. Subsequently, I had a little problem with the pacing of the story overall. At about 70% everything was already sort of wrapped up in my head. After that it just felt like one extended epilogue, which wasn't bad, but was a little boring towards the end.

Overall, it was nice to return to the BFBC world and meet these new kids. I see a lot of storylines brewing in the future for all these kids, and even some side characters on the hockey team 👀. Maverick, Brooks, Reid (the Scotsman 🫠), and Rhodes from the hockey team were all lovely characters in their own right. Rhodes specifically interested me a lot, I have no idea where he fits into this and when he'll get a story, but I would certainly read his story whenever it comes about 🥰

In short if you are looking for a low stakes, cute and fluffy second chance hockey romance then this might be the book for you!

Thank you to Jenn as always for the ARC of this one in exchange for my honest review 🫶🏼

Ellie Bradford always loved Owen Harper—her first love, first kiss, and the one who got away. She thought letting him go was the right choice, but years later, one heated reunion proves her mistake. Determined to win him back, she moves to Seattle, hoping for a second chance.
Owen never stopped loving Ellie, but when she left, she took his heart with her. Now, five years later, she’s back—in his city and under his roof. Old feelings reignite, and suddenly, their second chance feels possible… if she’s willing to stay.

I didn’t expect anything less from Jennifer Chipman’s books, and once again, I’m blown away! This was exactly the light read I needed. Ellie and Owen’s second-chance romance was absolutely adorable, and the dual POV made it so much easier to understand what was going on in their heads.
For a big part of the book, I was dying to know what caused their initial breakup, and I loved how the past events were perfectly woven in through full flashback chapters. Both characters were so sweet—Ellie felt like pure sunshine every time I read her POV, while Owen was the ultimate golden retriever hero. Every thought and action of his revolved around Ellie, doing everything he could to make sure they got it right this time. Their emotions were beautifully portrayed and well-explained, making me root for them, even though I knew this was a second-chance romance.

The book is incredibly easy to follow and read, even with the past timeline included. If you love hockey romance, this one is definitely for you! It’s impossible to resist an NHL hero, especially when paired with a former figure skater like Ellie. Their nicknames for each other were the cutest! And as a bonus—this book is so spicy, making up for all their lost time.

This book is packed with so many irresistible tropes that I couldn’t even list them all—you’re bound to find something you love! Plus, this series is a continuation of the “Best Friends Book Club” series, meaning Ellie and Owen are the second generation. I can’t wait to see what happens with the rest of the cousins! There were so many teases in this book that I’m already impatient for the rest of the series.

I received an advance copy of this book from ValentinePR in exchange for an honest review.

Uniquely in Love is a second chance hockey romance that will have you in the feels the entire time. Ellie and Owen have been inseparable since birth. Ellie's and Owen's mothers were best friends, which made Ellie and Owen best friends right from the start. Over the years, they developed crushes on each other and ended up dating. With college pressures and their futures uncertain, Ellie broke Owen’s heart and they went their separate ways. Now reunited years later, they work to rebuild the relationship they lost all those years ago.

First of all, Eleanor Daisy is the prettiest name ever and I will be adding it to my nonexistent baby name list. This book was so cute and had me in all the feels the entire time. I was rooting for them to get back together instantly, as I could feel their chemistry through the page. The book is written in dual timelines from both POVs and it flows so perfectly. The reader never has to guess what the other character is thinking because we are privy to both sides of the story. Their romance grew at the perfect pace where nothing felt rushed. I could tell that their childhood bond may have split when they were kids, but they never lost their feelings for each other. My only complaint about this book is that it felt about 100 pages too long. It seemed like the plot was dragging at bit at the end and it could have been sped up. Overall, I was obsessed with Owen’s and Ellie’s love story and I know they will be together forever.

Uniquely in Love is the first sports romance in the Cousins Coffee Club series. Ellie Bradford and Owen Harper were high school sweet hearts but they broke up so Ellie wouldn’t hold him back, but Owen didn’t know that until now. When Ellie comes back into Owen’s lifer it’s going to be hard not to pick up where they left off, but maybe being just friends is for the best.

I like a good sports romance and the roommates to lovers, second chance romance tropes pulled me in. I really wanted to love this book and there was nothing wrong with it from a writing perspective, but it didn’t hook me like I wanted. Even though these tropes are normally ones I enjoy they just didn’t pull me in like I hoped. This was a very sweet and cute romance and it was well written. The main characters didn’t pull me in and there are a lot of side characters. This will lead to a good cast for future books, but I felt like I didn’t know who most of them were because of the amount. In the first half of the book the chapters flip back and forth between them and now and that threw me off a few times. Yet again, nothing wrong with this style, but it didn’t hit the mark for me. I’m sure there are readers out there who will fall in love with this book because there was nothing wrong with it, it just didn’t connect for me. I am open to reading more in this series, this couple just didn’t hit for me.

Before entering into the world of the Cousins Coffee Club, I read the Best Friends Book Club & I am so glad that I did. In my opinion, reading the first generation series allowed for me to really get introduced to the world Jennifer was wanting to create. A world full of meaningful relationships with significant others, family (found and blood), and friends.

To begin with this group of second generation kiddos, Owen and Ellie are the first couple that get their love story. With their story comes lots of history that needed to be unpacked in a very realistic way for two people in the earlier twenties and figuring out life. While there was animosity and angst, there were not cruel in their breakup which I found to be very tasteful even though it was sad. First love turned first heartbreak. Cue the tears.

Ellie is finally graduating college and getting ready to make her mark on the world only things are a bit harder than she was expecting. With nothing left to lose, this girl set out to get her man back. That sort of bravery and confidence showed how much she believed in her and Owen which I can get behind.

Owen was an absolute sweetheart. the way this man loved and respected Ellie even from the very beginning when the started dating was so swoon worthy and heartfelt. It really played into their importance of them being each other first and only loves.

Overall, I really enjoyed reading a sweet story of first loves getting their second chance at their happy ending. The plethora of side characters were giving everything they needed to in order for me to be chomping at the bit for everyone's stories, the cousins and Owen's teammates. I am so eager to get my hands on the rest of this series.

Tropes
- second chance
- "it's always been you"
- one night stand
- roommates
- hockey player x former figure skater

ARC Review:

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐
Spicy: 🌶️🌶️🌶️

I have mixed thoughts about this book but for the most part, I enjoyed it, especially all the side characters. I'll start off with what I enjoy:
- love a good childhood friends to lovers
- flashbacks to their childhood relationship (sooo cutee!!)
- family group chat
- Zamboni

Things that I did not so much enjoy:
- the lack of communication
- "running away" from their problems
- Using spicy time to not talk about their problems

Overall, I think the main thing that deterred me from giving this a higher rating was the lack of communication between the couple. For my life, I just wanted to sit them down and have them spill all their problems because they could not be trusted to do it themselves. Besides that, I quite enjoyed this book and thought the couple was quite cute. I also thought they were always wanting to talk about their feelings during a spicy time like what...I mean do you but like dang any other time?

I'm hoping will all get their own books especially Ellie's sister, Abigail. I just know her book is going to be so much fun solely from the snippets we got in this book.

Huge thank you to Valentine PR and Jennifer Chipman for allowing me to receive an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

let me start by saying that jennifer never misses for me, her books always pull me out of a slump and always put me in a good mood!

this book is a second-chance romance that is heartfelt and a beautifully written story about love, sacrifice, and finding your way back to the person meant for YOU and ONLY YOU. the childhood best-friends-to-lovers dynamic adds an extra layer of depth, making their reunion all the more emotional for me, tbh i’m such a SUCKER for this trope!

ellie’s decision to break things off with owen was heartbreaking yet understandable, and watching them navigate their way back to each other was incredibly satisfying and made me cry happy tears when they finally, FINALLY got their happy ending!

the pacing was perfect—never rushed, yet never dragging—and the flashbacks to the before made me really understand ellie and owen evern more! the side characters brought so much charm and warmth to the story. and let’s not forget the spice—it was absolutely top-tier, not kidding it had me blushing!

the chemistry between the main characters was undeniable, making their journey from heartbreak to happiness even more rewarding for the reader AKA me!

Uniquely in Love is a second chance book between Ellie and Owen, who were each other’s first everything. They grew up together.

The book starts five years after Ellie and Owen break up. It’s been five years since they’ve seen each other. Once Owen’s little sister and Ellie graduate, he goes to visit the family and celebrate. When they meet again, they learn that their feelings for each other still remain, but Owen gets the closure he needed to try and move on. On the other hand, Ellie realizes her mistake regarding ending things and moves to Seattle to get Owen back.

Owen and Ellie had the cutest relationship. I enjoyed the dual timeline and learning why they had broken up all those years ago. I swear once I started reading the book, I blinked and I was already 100 pages in, it was such a fun and quick read. The book flew by and I was enjoying it.

The Cousins Coffee Club group chat was my favorite part of the book. I loved the banter they all had with each other; it had me giggling at times.

🏒 Uniquely In Love ⛸️

I couldn’t put this book down, read it within 24 hours. I totally loved this second chance love story!

These characters were so likable! I truly enjoyed them! Ellie is a figure skater and Owen plays hockey. Both wanting to go pro. They have known each other since they were babies as their moms are best friends.

Once entering high school Ellie + Owen fall in love becoming High school sweethearts. After a few years of dating Ellie walks away from Owen without an explanation braking his heart.

5 years later they see each other again and things are tense. Within those 5 years Ellie has a skating accident and Owen goes on to the NHL.

When forced proximity happens these two realize quickly things between them were never really over. But the trust has been broken and they don’t know if they can move forward.

If you’re looking for a soft fluffy sports romance with some spice I encourage you to grab this book once it releases!

Guys this book was so cute! It was the perfect second chance romance showcasing the couples struggles with the past but also highlighting their triumphs🥹❤️ Ellie and Owen were perfectly entwined with one another since day one! Being bestfriends prior I loved seeing all the glimpses of the past and understanding these twos relationship on another level! Understanding their hesitancy on unleashing their overflowing feelings for one another kept me on the edge of my seat and don't get me started on all the grand gestures these two did for one another. It was truly the definition of you need me no questions asked I'm there!😭❤️ also Zamboni!🥹✨ I truly can keep yapping about this! Are you planning to read this yet? (you should! Did I mention it's on KU?🤭)

Big thank you to Jennchipmanauthor and valentine_pr_ for sending me this eArc so happy I got to read this and so grateful to officially be on this amazing Arc team!!🫶🏼✨

A cute and fluffy second chance hockey romance!!

Owen and Ellie were destined to be together, and we know. If you forget it, you will read about it every chapter. I dont know if this will make sense but I feel like most contemporary romance is written in a way where you know they’ll be together but what’s actually happening in the book can make you question that HEA. This was not that way.

The first breakup definitely made sense to me. But all the discourse after they were living together did not. It is definitely miscommunication, which I feel like was done well for a little bit, but then got to be too much.

Like a ton of fluff, and the beginning where all the cousins and friends and family is introduced was a wild couple of pages. I get it’s a second gen, but that felt like it was a bit much.

After 80% it was like reading an extended prologue, not needed and dragged the ending with building the next books in the series. Which baffles me who the next MC is after setting up one couple for the majority of the book, and Abi for the last bit. Then announcing the next character to be someone else made me go 🤨.

Anyways I liked the premise of this book, the “it’s always been you”, the dual timelines, and the start of the second chance. The dog was so cute too. I also liked that they helped heal each other again with skating and being there for Owen.

Thank you to VPR and Jennifer Chipman for the ARC💌

Spin off series of the Best Friends Book Club. You don’t have to read that series first as this series follows their kids. If you read it it’ll just give you more insight to the parents and what lead to their relationships. Uniquely in Love is the first in the spin off series that is the Cousins Coffee Club series. It follows along with Ellie and Owen’s journey. It is everyone’s favorite type of romance; hockey romance! I will never tire of reading hockey romance. This was a cute second chance romance with spice. Ellie and Owen are both lovable main characters and the book features several side characters who you’ll love and hopefully see more of as the series continues. It was not my favorite Jennifer Chipman read but I did enjoy it and I’m looking forward to continuing the series. Thank you Valentine PR for this ARC!
