That's a wrap on The KORT Series! I'm not crying, you're crying.
Gage and Ainsley were the perfect ending to the beauty-in-the-broken theme woven throughout this series. This found family has carved a forever space in my heart. Thank you for loving them with me. To know they have found a home inside so many readers, not simply my own brain, is a gift I will always cherish.
Here's to shooting stars, keeping them guessing, blueberry fields, and tangerine skies.
Did I finish Charring Bones or did Charring Bones finish me... that is the real question. And if you guessed that it finished me then you would in fact be correct.
Now if you know me at all, I am a walking talking billboard for Brandy Hynes. I think this series is massively under hyped and I am so sad to see this series come to an end. With that being said, Iโm at a loss for words at how beautiful this ending. This series is so near and dear to my heart and this book was the perfect way to end it. I am so sad to move on from these characters but I donโt think I have ever read a more beautiful ending to a series in my life.
Now if you have read this series then you know these are all 5 star bangers, and Charring Bones is no different. But I will say this story is slightly different in the fact that this one is a second chance romance. Which means, our girl Ainsley knew Gage before he erased and as you can imagine this poses a little bit of a problem. But don't worry our girl Ainsley is fierce! She may be my favorite FMC of this series and in true Brandy Hynes fashion, she is a true badass!
I loved everything about this book. It was so beautifully written. I loved how grumpy Gage is but deep down he is a big teddy bear. I loved how Ainsley gave Gage a run for his money. The spice was written like poetry. The plot was a plotting. There was absolutely NOTHING about this book I did not like. It was top tier pure perfection!
Brandy, thank you for an incredible journey and another 5 star banger that will live with me for the rest of my life. This whole series has altered my brain chemistry in the best possible way. So if you needed a sign to read the KORT series then let this be your sign that now is the time!
You should most definitely read this book if you like: - Dark Romantic Suspense - Second Chance Romance - Secret Society - Morally Grey OTT Hero - Fierce/Badass FMC - Trauma Healing - Enemies to Lovers - Found Family - Touch Her and Die
* I would like to say a HUGE THANK YOU to Brandy Hynes for allowing me the absolute pleasure to read Charring Bones was an ARC in exchange for my honest thoughts, opinions and review.
'Charring Bones' is an intense and emotional finale to the KORT series, for which nothing could have prepared me. It's a rollercoaster of revenge, redemption, and second chances, making an unforgettable read.
Gage and Ainsleyโs relationship is filled with heartbreak, longing, and undeniable chemistry. Once broken and seeking vengeance, Gage is now an unstoppable force, while Ainsley fights to reclaim her power. Their push-and-pull dynamic keeps the tension high, and their journey together is both brutal and beautiful.
Brandy's writing is stunning, weaving together raw emotion, action, and sizzling romance. The found family element adds depth to the story, proving that bonds forged in fire can be just as strong as blood. The twists are unexpected, the pacing is gripping, and the spice? Absolutely top-tier!! ๐ฅ
This book is a phenomenal conclusion to an incredible series. If you love dark romance with morally gray heroes, fierce heroines, and high-stakes drama, you must read this story. Thank you Brandy, for this unforgettable journey. Iโll miss this world and these characters, but I'm so excited about the next series!
โพ๏ธโญ๏ธ for this book and honestly this whole series will live rent free in my head probably forever.
This book is so raw, beautiful, and I honestly couldnโt imagine a better way for the KORT series to end with one of my favorite found families! This book had me laughing, crying, panicking, and just experiencing all of the emotions - sometimes in the same chapter! I honestly wish I could re-read this book for the first time because I truly loved it so much.
I had a feeling that Gage was going to end up topping Ty as my favorite MMC and he definitely delivered! Heโs always had that mysterious aura surrounding him and I knew there would be so much under the surface that would come to light in his book. What I didnโt expect was for Ainsley to also take my top spot for FMCs in this series! I mean, I love all of them, but Gage & Ainsley etched themselves onto my heart and into my soul. Both of them have experienced so much in their years apart, but they both are so freaking strong and always found a way to continue moving forward with their lives.
Ainsley certainly lives up to the nickname Wicked, and I loved how feisty she was from the beginning when they first saw each other again. She might have been seen as a lamb before, but now she is a lioness stepping up and refusing to be controlled by anyone, even the people who care for her. I respect the heck out of her for all her choices she made, even when things seemed so dark.
The tension between these two is so f**king thick that I felt it as if I was there. The way these two truly are enemies in every aspect when they are reunited only added to this tension. And the spice between them - HOLY SMOKES. Itโs hot, but also cathartic in a way - if that makes any sense. There are scenes that I will NEVER be able to forget between these two!
I honestly was so shocked with some of the plot twists that this book has and I absolutely needed to keep reading to find out what would happen next. I cannot wait to see what Brandy has coming for us in the future, but I am so excited for it!
AUDIOBOOK: The audio for Charring Bones is absolutely phenomenal!! It is narrated in duet by Samantha Brentmoor and Jacob Morgan and I honestly couldnโt have picked anyone else better for this! Every single emotion in this book was heard in the audio and it only made the story so much more impactful!
After I read this book, I literally could not wait for the audio and this series will forever be a top tier series in my mind! I will be screaming about this series until I canโt speak and will be re-reading/listening hands down!
. . Thank you so much to Brandy Hynes and Wordsmith Publicity for letting me read an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review! Iโm so grateful to be a part of your street team ๐ค๐ค.
Iโm absolutely obsessed with this series and all of the audiobooks, so I was beyond excited to get my hands on Charring Bones. Itโs the perfect conclusion to the KORT series, following Gage and Ainsley as they navigate a second chance at love after being torn apart by circumstances and outside interference. With a past full of heartbreak and hidden truths, their journey to healing is raw, emotional, and deeply moving, perfectly balanced with suspense and spice. I fell completely in love with their story, and honestly, Iโm not sure Iโll ever get over it.
Jacob Morgan and Samantha Brentmoor were absolutely incredible as the narrators. They truly became Gage and Ainsley, bringing all the tension, heartache, and passion between them to life flawlessly.
While you definitely should start at the beginning with Burning Ivy, trust me you won't regret it. Every single audiobook in this series is a must listen!
When I can see again, through the tears. Youโll get a review. Until then.. just Orange. Always orange. ๐ญ๐งก
A beautiful conclusion to an absolutely life changing, wonderful series. I couldnโt have asked for a better ending for this beautiful couple, and their beautiful family if I had written it myself. This book and the ending were absolutely stunning, and Iโm still struggling to put into words how much these books and these characters mean to me. This review will purposely be vague, because unless you read these stories, youโll never truly understand that magic that is KORT.
Ainsley and Gage have a twisted past. Love at first meeting, a quick, brief relationship. A love that was pushed to its limits and beyond. Until the day Gage disappears, and Ainsley buries him for good.
Over a decade later, Ainsley is on the run, and who does she run straight, smack dab into? Gage of course. And theyโre both FURIOUS. These two HATE each other. Cannot stand to even be in the same room with one another, but they both remember. They remember the good times, the hard times, and itโs quite literally impossible to stay away from your one true enemy.
This book broke me in the best of ways. I was completely powerless when it came to putting these two down. As usual with Brandy, each chapter was jam packed with excitement, adventure, and sweet, tender moments. HEALING. This book healed me, healed Gage, healed Ains, and healed their now completed Found Family. I felt torn apart and out back together by the end of this book, and man.. was the ending sweet. Perfect. Soul cleansing.
As usual, Brandy brings the SPICE. Deliciously memorable spice. Spice that will have you SWEATING, clutching your pearls (if anyone still wears those), and bringing all new levels of smut to the table. Weโre talking IUD removal, Creamsicles, Pastryโs, and Towels that arenโt for sleeping on. ๐ MEMORABLE. HOT AS HECK. UNFORGETTABLE.
Iโm so sad to be done with these characters, but the next series was beautifully set up in this last book, and now i canโt wait! Bring on the Noire Brothers. Iโm ready to be hurt again.. maybe.
I am still a Liam & Celeste girlie for life. No one can touch Carving Graves for me. But Gage and Ainsley are hot on their heels. Brandy truly saved the best book for last, and Iโm so in awe of her writing and the absolute chokehold it has on me, time and time again.
โMy heart. My soul. My DNA. No me without her.โ
Brandy's writing style is stunning. The imagery she creates is nothing short of perfection. Gage is my favourite and his story couldn't have been better. The KORT series is now complete and if you need me, I will be in mourning for the foreseeable future. HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend
Youโre either the hunter or the hunted, the lion or the lamb. Which one will you be?
The last installment, yโall. I canโt believe this series is over. this was a ride that I thoroughly enjoyed every second of.
โDonโt worry, Wicked. Iโll be the kind of pain you crave.โ โYou should worry, Big Guy. Iโll be the kind of pain that scars.โ
Gageโthroughout the series, I got more and more drawn to him, and I wanted to read about him so badly. Heโs mysterious, quiet, and keeps to himself, and now I finally know why. His past really played a role in how he turned out, and when his past comes crashing into him, the past that he hates, the past that scarred him, he's forced to face the one thing he never could let go of. Her.
Ainsleyโitโs safe to say I didnโt expect her to be like this. She has a bite, a vicious fire, so wicked she could end anyone who hurt what she cares for. Sheโs such a powerful character, and even in her weakest moments, she still keeps her head up and fights whatever comes her way.
These two have been through hell. Lied to, manipulated, robbed of their happiness until there was no hope left, until Ainsley stumbled across the one person she thought she would never see again. But he despises her, loathes her, wants to ruin herโฆ or does he?
โYou are mine, Wicked. Until my dying breath. Mine to hate. Mine to shelter. Mine to fuck. On my goddamn leash. You left me once, but history will not repeat itself.โ
So many truths come to light over their time together. Gage never truly forgot his Wicked, even when he convinced himself he hated her. And Ainsley, she never stopped fighting through every battle to avenge him and reclaim the things they were robbed of. She never thought she could have this new life where she is happy, where she is the lioness and never the lamb, the hunter and never the hunted. In this life, she has a new family that loves and cherishes her, every single one of them. Wills and Rena, because sheโs their Orange. Ty, the first to truly understand her. Celeste, her first real friend. Liam, who was wary of her at first but eventually opened up. Iva, the girl she once hated but grew to adore. And finally, Gageโthe man who fought for her, who burned the world down for her. and was ready to scorch, stack, and salt everyone who hurt her. Their relationship was everything. Darker, spicier, more intense than any of the others, and absolutely unforgettable.
The plotโmy god, so many twists. Unexpected and kept me on my toes. I loved seeing how all of them played a part in KORT, and Iโm so ready to see more of the Noireโs brothers because, hot damn, Iโll miss these guys. This series will forever have a place in my heart.
I canโt wait to read more of Brandyโs work because itโs absolutely mind-blowing!

Welcome back to KORT! I have been dying to be back within the walls of this entire family and I am so sad to see this series come to an end. But DANG did Brandy leave the best for last! Absolutely ahhmazing. Out fucking standing. Infinity stars babyyy. ๐ค
Gage and Ainsley are pure chaos and I loved every single second of their story. Talk a love in a past lifetime. These two are the definition of my past life. Absolutely beautiful and tragic all at the same time!
Gage. My big guy. My early morning baker. My Josh. This man came so dang close to taking the top spot in my heart but Wells holds strong. (Iโm forever a Wells babe) Gage has always been a huge side character for me. Iโve loved him from the very beginning. Gage has always come off as this big man who hates all women and it was so incredible to see why. Ainsley has always had his heart and he never took it back, and watching him find her again and love her again was soo god damn beautiful.
Ainsley. My Ains. My Skittles. My Goldilocks. My Badass Mafia Princess. My Wicked. I donโt even have the words to describe how much i love this girl. This girl has a โI donโt give a fuckโ vibe and I loved every second of see her act and ask questions later. This girl had such a rough go once she had to let go of Gage and it was so tragic to see her story unfold. I hated the people who hurt her and was so dang happy to see her ready to burn the world. Watching Ains be able to trust and love again and accept the family was so dang ahhmazing. I loved watching her be jealous of the life Gage has built, her hating Ivy made me giggle so hard. But watching her break down her own walls to love Gage again and be loved by the entire family has my heart melting.
Now we know Brandy is a spice queen but this one..this one was spicy and so heartwarming. Every single time these two had a spicy scene it was also met with a gut wrenching heart to heart. Absolutely ahhmazing. And the MOUTH on this man!! I was melting and sweating all at the same time. All I will say is CREAMSICLE. That is all. โค๏ธโ๐ฅ
Yโall know Iโm obsessed with a found family and these character will forever be within my heart. I love every single one of them. Each one has my heart for different reasons and I love them all individually and as a group. I will miss them so god damn much. (Iโm not crying, youโre crying)
Anyways I could go on and on about this entire series. Sooo my DMโs are open for anyone picking up this series for the first time or just someone who wants to gush about all these characters!
To my girls who have been here since the beginning of the KORT series, I hope you love this series as much as I do and I hope all your days are orange. ๐งก

Brandy my dear. I am so honored to be on your street team and I CANNOT wait for whatโs next! ILY! ๐ค
Words. Iโm trying to find to right words for this book, actually for this entire series. Itโs all just simply incredible and such a bittersweet moment. I will never stop talking about this series and how great it is. Charring Bones was perfection. Such a great ending to this entire series. Am I sad? Absolutely. Did I sob during chapter 35, 100%. If you know me at all, you know I get STRONGLY attached to characters in books. Strongly.
Having this be and an ending to the series, hurts with how much I LOVE these books. Brandy Hynes undoubtedly knows how to write the perfect book boyfriend, the best badass fmc, and just paint you an incredible picture of the whole world in your head when reading her books. All four books live in my head rent free and I will forever praise this sweet author and her books.
I jumped into this series as an ARC reader for Carving Graves after finding Brandy and falling in love with Burning Ivy. From there I have grown to know Brandy and bond over Dermot Kennedy and obviously the love of her writing. Itโs poetic and beautiful. Thank you Brandy for writing such great books and being one of the sweetest people I have gotten the pleasure of talking to. Iโm so excited to watch you grow as an author and see where this next series takes you, I already know it will be just as good. Thank you for allowing me to continue to read your book early and as always loving Dermot Kennedy as much as I do.

OH MY HEART IS FULL!!! The boy with amber eyes found his happiness with his wicked! This book is jammed packed with goodness! The PLOT thickens! Shit hits the fan! You get a glimpse of everyoneโs HEA! This found family is EVERYTHING!!!
Brandy Hynes makes you feel apart of the clan! You feel connected to each and everyone of them. You get their sense of humor and love the fierce FMCs that at the end of the day would do anything for you!
I donโt want to go into detail but YOU MUST READ THIS SERIES!!! Youโre going to love them as much as I do!
Thank you Brandy Hynes and Wordsmith Publicity for giving me the opportunity to read in advance!
I donโt even know where to start with this review?! A beautiful ending to a beautiful series. As always Brandy Hynes gave us a 5 star BANGER! I laughed, I cried (multiple times), I gasped, I blushed-Gage has got a MOUTH. ๐ซ Itโs an intense enemies to lover and second chance all rolled into one. I am so incredibly sad that this ride is over, but I canโt wait to see what Brandy does next.
Gage is the head enforcer for the KORT Cabal. Heโs a man of action and few words. He does the dirty work in the shadows, but thatโs where he feels the most himself. After always being thrown aside he knows who he is and what he offers. Itโs not rainbows and fairytales is blood and carnage and vengeance.
Ainsley is a mafia princess, but there is nothing princess like about her. She is fire and venom. Even though her father and her husband tried to break her, but she knew deep down she was stronger, she was a fighter. She just needed someone to fight with and fight for. A found family willing to walk through the fire with her.
From one lifetime to another these two seem to always find each other. Their souls are connected in a way that will always have one seeking out the other. In light, in darkness, on Earth or beyond.
Thank you Brandy Hynes and WordSmith Publicity for allowing me to be a part of this team, it is a true honor. These thoughts and opinions are my own.
โจ"This"-he seethesโฆ."is why I hate you more than I ever have."
There's something worse than anger lacing his voice. Brokennessโa far harder feat to overcome.
"Because all these years later, you still feel like fking home."
โจThe. Way I am. In. My. Feels!!๐ค๐ค โพ๏ธ
Over the last week Iโve been listening to Charring Bones, the 4th and final book in the KORT series and my heart, oh my heart LOVES these characters!!
โจI have been so looking forward to to Gage and Ainsleyโs book, all while not being emotionally ready to say goodbye.
Iโve laughed, had ALL the feet kick moments ๐ฃ, swooned, ACHED, felt consumed by the HEAT ๐ฅand have LOVED them so! These characters are raw, emotionally complex, richly developed, and their story is just beautiful.
โจAnd this duet style audiobook is fantastic with both of these narrators giving phenomenal performances!! ๐ง๐คโค๏ธ
Charring Bones is full of so many tropes I love, secret society, second chance romance, immaculate found family, and all the dark romance vibes! There is so much I want to say about this story and series...all the feels, and tears, the twists and turns, and the love. This author's stories have filled my heart with endless love!!
I liked the book and I didn't expect anything less. It has every recommendation from me.
โ
Regardless of how awkward this is for me, the impact appears far greater for Ainsley, who is blatantly choked up. Bare and breathtaking, her posture exudes all the confidence she always carries. But thereโs so much more behind that. Her pain and insecurities and fears. She canโt hide those from me. I know her heart, her eyes, the measure of her breaths and what the rhythm means. And like Iโve told her again and again, I want everything she is. How could she doubt that Iโd do anything for her? When will she get it? Itโs always been this way. She says jump, and I ask how high. Because Iโm under her spell? Whipped? Absolutely. And also because I trust that while my girl delivers every wicked fantasy Iโve ever had, sheโs also my heaven. My home. My missing piece. Who wouldnโt jump for that? Or fucking crawl?
Iโm officially overwhelmed with how I feel about this amazing series!! Iโm not ok right now, but I mean that in the best way!! ๐ซถ๐ผ Charring Bones ๐ฆด has brought us a grand finale to the KORT series and what an amazing ride!! I have so many screenshots saved of quotes from this #book and scenes that will live rent free in my mind!! ๐ค โฆ Yโall need to read this series!! It has an amazing #foundfamily, crazy #suspense, great character building (so definitely start with Book 1: Burning Ivy), the banter is too good, the #spice is sooo nice, and thereโs still so much more to come from Brandy!!

This is the fourth book in this phenomenal series and what a thrilling and addictive page turner this is! Gage is the head enforcer for the KORT, and he has been biding his time to get revenge on Ainsley and her family, Ainsley is on the run and finds herself where Gage wants her. This is a well written action packed, emotional roller coaster, with found family, friendships, danger, suspense, intrigue, enemies / lovers, vengeance, trauma, redemption, second chances, touch her and die vibes, morally gray, healing, survival, humor, witty banter, undeniable chemistry, and love, which leads to an entertaining, spicy, and unpredictable page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
My love for Brandy and this series has only grown from book to book!! Am I said it is over yes, but I think Gage and Ainsley made the perfect ending! This is a second chance romance at its finest. This is also a great love/hate relationship. They hate that they still love each other! Gage was everything I had been waiting for and more! This book grabs you from the beginning and doesn't let go until the very last word. The way Brandy writes these stores you go through an array of emotions, and this book was no different! Out Today!!! This is book four in The Kort Series and to get the entire story you need to read the series in order!
Omg where do I even start. I donโt think anyone can outdo Ty for me, but Gage really came through and hit the mark ๐ฎโ๐จ Iโve found myself loving the second chance trope more and more and this book definitely solidified it. Up until chapter 35, I wouldโve said this is her best book but the gaps kill me!! (I know we learn what happens in the Noire Brothers series but still ๐ญ) Other than that, this plot??? Dead. I think Ainsley is my favorite FMC from this series by far. The shit that she endured her whole life and where she ended up? Heartbreaking, but perfect. Gage and Ainsley are so deserving of their HEA and nothing better ruin it ๐ค
I fear this review is going to be too long since Iโve developed a problem since Tracing Scars, where Iโm incapable of writing basic reviews for books I really like. But like I actually donโt know where to start or where Iโm going with this.
โHe smells like coffee and caramel, gunpowder and suspicion. A mystifying mix of bitter and sweet. Ruination and power. Like a late-night war room.โ
When we see Gage and Ainsley reunite, weโre like oh shit, thereโs no way this is going to go well, because they hated each other right?? Psych, actually. The hate they thought they had I feel like was just a build up of resentment and grief of the life they couldโve had before they were ripped apart. For the longest time, Gage thought she had just given up on him when post fake death he saw her โhappyโ with her new husband, hence the feeling of hate. It really felt like a stab in the gut, but from Ainsleyโs perspective, we saw how torn apart she was over losing Josh. It really felt like she lost her orange forever.
โI would have sold my soul to tell him that he was always my only. My only dream. My only hope. My only love.โ
We see her getting revenge on her so called family for hiding her child and making her do what they needed in hopes of her reuniting with her son. We then come to know that her son didnโt survive after birth, so basically she was taken advantage of and abused for YEARS. If I was her I wouldโve unalived all of them too like damn.
When we see her reunite with Gage, all of it came running back to the surface, the good they shared together and the bad that she went through afterwards. She felt a spark of hope when she heard his voice, but that quickly turned around, given the fork stabbing lol. It was clear that through โsaid hateโ they still felt a longing towards each other.
โI realize that despite how much I hate her, Iโll never allow her to have a life outside of me again. Possessive over her doesnโt even begin to cut it. I want to own herโespecially her pain.โ
When they were younger, Gage felt like Ainsley was the only person in the world who ever believed in him. She referred to him as brilliant, and believed he would amount to anything. Heโd never feel like what he felt with her, like he would risk his entire soul just to prove her right, but only if she was by his side through it all.
โI wonder if she feels this electricity and hates it as much as I do. This connection that is a living, breathing thing I canโt fucking escape. The one that makes me want to rip her apart with my bare hands and shield her, all at the same time? Is she as fucked in the head as I am?โ
I loved seeing the progression of Gageโs possessiveness. It honestly feels like it kicked right back in the moment they reunited. That possessiveness also led to a realization they heโd never stopped loving her either. She was always going to be the other half of his soul, his missing piece.
โYou are mine, Wicked. Until my dying breath. Mine to hate. Mine to shelter. Mine to fuck. On my goddamn leash. You left me once, but history will not repeat itself.โ
As we go back and read about their past memories, I about wanted to sob. Especially of the day they were separated, not knowing it would be 11 more years until they saw each other again ๐ญ Like literally just cut me in two.
โThe last day I was truly alive, the world was bathed in orange.โ โ โWe were connected, even when weโd been torn apart. Even through perceived death and betrayal, we both fucking held on.โ
Do NOT even get me started on the foreshadowing of the crossword proposal like I just wanna say that was probably the most creative proposal I have ever read about and I will neverrrr forget it.
โIโm a betting girl, and that man is down bad for you, which means buckle up because youโre staying. Lots of Sunday crosswords in your future.โ โ โHer love language? Carnage, climaxes, and crosswords. A goddamn fantasy.โ
We canโt forget orange and all that it signifies. From the orange sunset, to orange skittles, to the orange creamsicles (hehe), and to her favorite, Gageโs amber eyes. Wicked really does love orange ๐งก
โAs soon as the door swings open, I catch my favorite glimpse of orange. Steely and seething, but with the filtering sunlight, those ambers offer a color like no other.โ
Let us not forget how much Ainsley had Gage under her spell. I really donโt think she understood how much she was etched into his soul. But at the same time, I donโt think he understood how etched he was into hers. They were both each others missing piece ๐ฅน
โIn his embrace, I am both the hunter and the hunted. Which transforms this man Iโve loved and lost and despised into my haven. Because while Iโm technically still his prisoner, Iโm finally unchained.โ โ โWhen will you get it, Ains? Youโre all I am. Every cell of mine is etched with you, with us. Far beyond the tattoos or the W carved into my chest. I remember everything.โ
Um, can we talk about the big guy CRAWLING??? Like I wouldโve dropped to the floor if I hadnโt already been horizontal. Pretty sure I screamed though.
โHow could she doubt that Iโd do anything for her? When will she get it? Itโs always been this way. She says jump, and I ask how high. Because Iโm under her spell? Whipped? Absolutely. And also because I trust that while my girl delivers every wicked fantasy Iโve ever had, sheโs also my heaven. My home. My missing piece. Who wouldnโt jump for that? Or fucking crawl?โ
Can we also touch on the found family in this series?? It was almost just as important as each couples journey to finding each other. Because through all of the turmoil and the craziness, all 8 of them found a forever home in each other (and all the kids to come of course). Like this trope really has me so emotional and the way it came together in the series up until this book just had me ๐ญ Iโm extra emo over the friendships Ainsley found in the other girls. Thereโs truly nothing more important than having a set of girls who would go to the ends of the earth for you.
โWeโve been over this. Your time is eternity. With me. With our family. Even if we surrendered right now, weโd do it together. Because in this life or the last or all the ones to come, weโre a unit. Thatโs what separates us. Thatโs what will lead to us becoming those wrinkled warriors.โ
I guess we can just end off by saying how warm my heart feels over Gage and Ainsley finding each other again. They were also meant to be each otherโs destiny. And there love was always going to be immortal. There was no one theyโd rather walk through hellfire with than each other. Ainsley would always be Wicked, and Gage would always be the boy with amber eyes.
โOur love is truly immortal, Ains. Weโre the only ones here who have been together in every life.โ
I REALLY wish I could copy and paste half of my favorite quotes in this review, but I fear it would be an entire essay ๐ Only note is Iโm lowkey mad about the time jump because I want to know what happened with the 3rd card (and Gage and Ainsleyโs marriage, the kids, etc. but thatโs just me in general because I donโt like missing out on those moments)โฆ like obviously something went down if the girls identities had to be erased and then what led to their inevitable relocation, but like how??? Iโm sick over it and need to know immediately!!!
โBut it all boils down to us winning against every son of a bitch we faced. We got the girls. And weโre going out like the goddamn Romans in Carthage. By Charring Bones.โ
โ
โIs that right? You won the jackpot, Big Guy?โ โ โYeah, Ains. My soul never needs to hide from or seek the darkness it craves because no matter the destination, Iโm owned by Wicked.โ

I will continue to shout this series from every rooftop that I can! Brandy and her KORT series is criminally underrated and I am here to tell you if you love a dark romance with secret society vibes and strong/badass female characters (and men who worship at their feet) this series/book is for you!
Gage and Ainsely were the perfect ending to the KORT series. If you like enemies to lovers & second chance romance you will love these two.
I loved Ainsley! Ainsley is that perfect blend of strong yet has a soft side to her that she only shows to certain people. I loved the banter between Ainsley and not only Gage but all the other family members in this book. Ainsley has never had people in her life that she could truly consider friends or family and watching her slowly open up and let them in was beautiful. I absolutely adored the friendship that she built with Ivy, Celeste and Rena โIf youโre going nowhere,โ Ivy begins, and Celeste finishes, โWeโre coming with you.โ
Gage oh this big guy who is really a teddy bear underneath all that grumpiness. No matter how much he wants to hate Ainsley there is no doubt that she has been and always will be his missing piece. The moments between these two and the puzzles and scrabble words had me smiling ear to ear. The way Gage and Ainsley are together is ๐ฅthese two give Liam and Celeste a run for their money with the spicy scenes.
I am so sad for the KORT series to be completed because I will miss this family. I was in my feelings during the final chapter and epilogues. It was the perfect ending for this family. I can not wait to see what comes next with the Noire family.
โYouโre eating the orange?โ โSorry, I didnโt know they were being saved for something. And orange is my favโโ โThey were, For you. Youโre the missing piece. I knew it.โ โAinsleyโs favorite is orange.โ โIโll be damned. The missing piece might be right.โ
Again I will shout this series from every rooftop! The found family in this book is absolute perfection and I can not wait to go back and reread this before the Noire family books come out.
Canโt believe this is the finally book! This series is always so good and I canโt wait for what brandy has for us next!

Having found herself in a safehouse as she awaits her new refresh identaly, Ainsley never thought sheโd come face to face with a ghost and meet his new found family.

The secrets which were buried are going to unfold, new alliances formed and a flicker of an old flame is about to relightโฆ

Ainsley may have run from her old life but those shadows are never far behind and now KORT are wanting their own dealings with Ainsley too.

โIโll let you in on a little secret. Your threats turn me on. Iโm more than willing to bleed for you.โ
โThat can be arranged.โ
The book that completes this deadly, all consuming and perfect family!
Gage has grown soo much already from the first time we met this grumpy, thick muscled man that turns out is just as skilled in battle as he is in the kitchen. We knew that he left a girl behind and how much pain he was keeping bottle up.
There was only going to ever be one girl to steal back his heart and Ainsley is definitely the woman who could knock some sense back into himโฆliterary too.
Their reunion was hardly one of sweet blissโฆwhich made it all the more exciting to read as these two rediscover who they are again. I loved their story, it was unique to the other couples and they had to fight just as hard to claim one another. They are both survivors with a dark past and to see them slowly break down the walls was beautiful to see, even with Ainsley trusting this family was a whole new experience for her.
I donโt think the world of KORT will ever leave us now and these characters have clung to us right from the start. Theyโve buried their roots inside, grown with every page and now leave rent free in our heads!
All the emotions, the tension, pain that broke them and letโs not forget the thigh clenching steamy sex that each couple has brought usโฆthis world that weโve explored may be turning itโs last pageโฆbut as one story endsโฆanother is just waiting to be unleashed and trap us all over again.
โYouโre lethal, Wicked. A lifetime of dreams in the flesh. And I will be using every inch of you to fulfill them.โ
"No matter where we are, this life or the next, this fucked-up world or the pits of hell, you're mine. I'll move heaven and earth to be sure of it. And I'll never let you go."
Genre: Dark romantic suspense. Tropes: Enemies to lovers, second chance, secret society, found family, forced proximity, trauma healing, strong FMC x morally grey MMC, touch her and die. Trigger warnings: Yes.
"Don't worry, Wicked. I'll be the kind of pain you crave."
~ arc review ~ This was the ultimate finale to this beautiful, harrowing, action-packed journey that has been the KORT series. I was left speechless and completely in awe after finishing, and had to take some time to gather my thoughts and feelings into coherent sentences.
I really enjoyed the way the author intertwined the past and present, and in doing so added depth to the characters. Gage and Ainsley had a complicated past, so having it unfolded without overwhelming the plot was amazing. It was beautiful following Ainsley on her journey back into Gage's life, and I just adored her so much. They were true enemies, and wow, did I love that dynamic, it only added to the tension and made it that much more explosive when they finally gave in.
I would have sold my soul to tell him that he was always my only. My only dream. My only hope. My only love. Here we are, on the other side of a heap of carnage, and he's my only refuge.
Gage was flawed in the most perfect way, and the way he came off as grumpy but was secretly a teddy bear was such a contradiction but fit him so well. No questions, he was a morally grey man, but he was also so much more. Ainsley really were his perfect match and gave him a run for his money. She was a badass, very feisty and I loved her fierce energy. Especially, knowing what we came to know of both of their pasts, it was amazing seeing her became the fierce lioness that couldn't be controlled by anyone was great.
"What do you want, Wicked? Name it, and it's yours. You summoned me, and I'm here to worship."
"Crawl to me, Big Guy. If you're a good boy, maybe I'll reward you with a taste. And lose the gray sweatpants. I want to see everything I own."
The chemistry these two had was off the charts, and while they were very hot and almost scorching together, they also had this bone-deep love that was undeniable. Their journey towards happily ever after was both heartbreaking, inspiring and beautiful, and I really loved them together.
She was the wicked I craved and the innocence I was willing to corrupt at any cost, as if she was my perfect gift after a lifetime of hellfire. Made for me.
This whole series has been such a journey. Jam-packed with goodness; action, intriguing plot-twists, suspense, banter, spice - truly perfection! The characters are all strong and have excellent character growth, and the found family the four guys created and the way the women fit into that was just wonderful! The humor, the banter, the meddling, the support, the respect and all the love - just perfection.
"Nothing will ever keep us apart again. I will slaughter anything between us, avenge your past and be your future. No matter what, we hold the fuck on."
I love Brandy's writing; engaging, almost poetic-like and beautiful. Her storytelling is on point, and while I loved every book in this series, this one delved even further and served a heartbreakingly beautiful journey to healing that was raw and emotional. This was balanced so well with the overarching plot, suspense and some great spice.
I cannot wait to see what goodness Brandy Hynes is bringing us next.
โCharring Bonesโ is a breathtaking and emotionally charged finale to the KORT series that has genuinely left me in awe. This enchanting story beautifully intertwines themes of revenge, redemption, and the hope that comes with second chances, all in a profoundly moving and uplifting way. It is truly a literary masterpiece, and I find it difficult to imagine a more perfect conclusion for this beloved found family. From laughter that makes me double over to tears that flow freely, this narrative takes readers on a whirlwind of emotions, all packed into a single chapter!
From the start, I felt that Gage would become my favorite male characterโand he truly lived up to that expectation with his captivating presence and complex personality. To my delight, the second-chance romance introduces an exciting layer of depth, showcasing Ainsley as a resilient and determined heroine. Their relationship unfolds with a captivating blend of emotional moments and undeniable chemistry. I was utterly absorbed by Gageโs transformation from a man driven by revenge to an incredible force for good. Ainsleyโs inspiring journey to reclaim her strength adds an exhilarating dimension to their dynamic.
Brandy's lyrical writing powerfully expresses deep emotions, exhilarating action, and tender romance. The unexpected plot twists kept me engaged, while the passionate scenes enhanced the story's thrill. This book is an exceptional conclusion to a remarkable series that deserves five shining stars. I am genuinely grateful to Brandy for this unforgettable journey filled with rich experiences. While I will deeply miss this vibrant world and its memorable characters, I eagerly anticipate your next series! If you've been looking for a sign to begin the KORT series, now is the ideal time to embark on this incredible adventure!
Jacob Morgan and Samantha Brentmoor excel in this audiobook with their delightful duet-style narration, vividly bringing each character to life! Samantha infuses Ainsley with a captivating blend of boldness and charm, making her both enchanting and relatable. Meanwhile, Jacobโs voice resonates with deep confidence and protectiveness, beautifully drawing listeners into the essence of their bond. Jacobโs rich, commanding voice conveys profound affection and unwavering respect for Ainsley, while Samanthaโs subtle yet alluring rasp adds an elegant touch that highlights Ainsleyโs sharp intelligence and delightful wit. Their remarkable chemistry effortlessly captivates the audience. Samantha's soothing, melodic tones blend with Jacob's rich, robust tenor, creating a harmonious experience that enchants throughout. This audiobook has surpassed my highest expectations, skillfully portraying the complexities of both Ainsley and Gage. Together, they create an unforgettable auditory experience that lingers long after the final word. I enthusiastically recommend this captivating audiobook; it is a spellbinding treasure sure to leave a lasting impression on every listener!
๐Charring Bones KORT โข Book 4๏ธโฃ By: @brandylhynes
๐คNarrated By: @jacob____morgan & @ms_brentmoor
Charring Bones was everything I thought it would be and so much more, throw in Jacob Morgan and Samantha Brentmoor and it was easily a 5 โญ๏ธ audio read for me! Gage and Ainsley have a passionate past, unfortunately for them their past was cut short with lies and deceit. Years later the last thing each of them expected was for their past to catch up to each other, but deep rooted connections donโt always disappear forever without any explanation and Charring Bones takes us on a journey through their past and now the future of what tore them apart. I couldnโt have picked a better narrator for Ainsley. Samantha Brentmoor is an incredible storyteller, pouring her heart and soul into Ainsley and the vulnerable moments she expresses making you feel every emotion through Samanthaโs tones. Ainsley is hardcore, strong, witty, seductive, with so many more attributes and Samantha Brentmoor brought all of those qualities together with her voice. Jacob Morgan did an incredible job narrating Gage as well. I didnโt realize how funny and sarcastic gage was but Ainsley brought that side of him out to play and Jacob was the perfect narrator to bring that humor to life. Jacob has this sarcastic tone that makes you grin knowing Gage is playing yet also just trying to rile Ainsley up, because fighting with her is when all the true feelings surface. Gage is protective and loyal, he will fight for the ones he love especially the found family he found along the way, and I loved every minute of Jacob narrating Gage. Charring Bones takes us on such a ride, wrapping up the series and bringing all of our favorites along for the ride. My heart warms for the series Brandy has created and the life she gave each one of these characters. Each book is alluring in its own way, filled with deep rooted emotions, passion, suspense and determination and I absolutely loved each book in this series.
๐ซถ๐ผThank you Brandy for the opportunity to listen and review.
๐ donโt forget you must begin w/ book 1 to get the full KORT experience.
Have you ever read a series where every book is five stars? Because I have, and it was this one.
Scorch. Stack. Salt. Gage Porter is one of our KORT crew and, even though every time a new lady comes into the family he greets them with his usual grump self, he has been one of my favorites. Now imagine my surprise when I hated him for the first thirty percent of the book. You see, like all the others, Gage has a past. The difference is he actually gets to come face to face with his past when Ty brings Ainsley into his womenโs shelter on the land of the familyโs French chateau. Ainsley is the love of Gageโs life, or at least she was before he got erased and she got marriedโฆ to another man.
As we know though, appearances arenโt quite what they seem and even though Gage is living life feeling like a picture is worth a thousand words, we all know that not every word speaks the truth. After MUCH angst, anger, and hate spice, Gage and Ainsley find themselves sharing truths and sharing a bed once more. Now, if youโve read the first three books (which I hope you have otherwise youโre probably confused as hell), you know this is just about the time that Gage has to claim Ainsley and present her to the rest of the KORT chairs. But Ainsley isnโt like the other girls and she has her own agenda and demands. Then shit hits the fan. I canโt tell you anything else, this is one you have to EXPERIENCE first hand and you canโt know even an ounce of what happens once they leave the first KORT meeting.
This book was sensational. I hated one of my favorite MMCs for the first thirty percent and then spent the last fifteen ish percent of the book in tears. Happy tears and sad tears. Brandy threw in some โa few years laterโ and both times it absolutely killed me. Then the drop of what comes between chapters thirty-four and thirty-five? I mean I knew it was coming because I begged Brandy to tell me it was happening two books ago, but I was not ready. Still not ready to say goodbye to these guys.
This book left me absolutely wreckedโI still feel hungover and canโt put my emotions into words. You know itโs good when I can't even wait for the audio! My first-ever ARC, and Iโll always be grateful to Brandy and Wordsmith Publicity for this core memory.
Charring Bones tells the story of Gage, our KORT enforcer, and Ainsleyโthe woman who shattered his trust and the missing piece of his soul. On the run and in danger, Ainsley finds refuge at Tytan's battered womenโs shelter, where fate forces them back together in an explosive confrontation. Torn apart as teens, their reunion is raw, painful, and deeply emotional. This is the darkest, most intense book of the seriesโheart-wrenching yet beautifully written. Watching Gage and Ainsley break open and fight for their hard-earned HEA was everything. Their chemistry? Absolute fire ๐ฅ The spicy scenes had me squealing; these two like it rough and kinky ๐ And Ainsley or the infamous Wicked? A total badass who holds her own, fitting seamlessly into the girl squad. I loved them. Gage and Ainsley were the perfect couple to end this series with a beautiful bang.
This was such a bittersweet read because the KORT series courses through my veins and I'm not really sure what to do with myself now. Besides the fact that I have questions that I NEED answered in the next series, the NOIRE brothers. There is NOTHING like this found family and the relentless support, and unconditional love they show each other. Charring Bones is a flawless goodbye from Chief, Little Storm, Golden God, Ace, Sailor, Little Moon, Big Guy, and Wicked to all of us; proving that once and for all there is beauty from the broken. I will FOREVER be thankful that I got to be a part of them and the community they brought me.
What I really want to finish with is each book is absolutely phenomenal and a series you can binge over and over. Charring Bones is a flawless ending to a perfect series! So just trust me, do yourself a favor, and read them and if you want company I'll happily join you anytime to go back to KORT.
The final installment in a wild yet beautiful ride!! Iโm so sad that this series is over, yet so whole after wrapping it up with these two. A perfect ending of a story spanning four books, each with its own individual storyline - but part of a much larger plotโฆ and just brilliant in its creation.
Ainsley and Gage were all things reckless, soft, untamed and absolutely beautiful - crushingly so at times. Their story fits seamlessly with the others in a way that only Brandy can deliver, yet still allows the reader to fall in love with them as an individual couple - and I totally did.
Ainsley and Gage have history that comes with baggage for the two of them. When their paths collide again and the past catches up, itโs an unhinged battle of stubbornness, want and needโฆ A perfect dichotomy of love and hate, and all the things in between. We very much get to see the enforcer side of Gage, but itโs so perfectly balanced with who weโve come to know him as throughout the series - a key point in his and Ainsleyโs storyline.
Ainsley is the perfect counterpoint for Gage, and I loved that she gave as good as she got. We get to see her be both fierce and soft though her story was filled with challenges that would break most people. Not Brandyโs female leads though. She delivers the best ones, and Ainsleyโs character is even more proof of that.
Full of suspense, spice, emotion and angstโฆ this final installment proves that Brandy Hynes is absolutely masterful at her craft. The same found family weโve come to know, with the same characters weโve come to love, and a perfect ending to a perfectly binge-able series that I canโt recommend enough. A forever favorite that will always have a spot on my shelf. I cannot wait for more readers to fall in love with the morally grey world that is KORT.
About a year ago, I stumbled upon a new book by an author I had never heard of. With a bit of hesitation, I decided to dive inโand what an incredible discovery it turned out to be!
Even though the first book was about Ivy and Wells, I immediately fell in love with Gage. From the very start, he captivated me, and with every new book, I became more and more obsessed with his character. His hatred toward Ivy in book one that slowly turned into a deep friendship. His bond with Celesteโone of my favorite characters. His protective nature over Rena. His unwavering loyalty to his friendsโTy, Wells, and Liam mean everything to him.
Honestly, I was scared Iโd be disappointed by his story. But I devoured it. Finally holding his book in my hands was absolutely incredible. Since the beginning of February, I hadnโt been able to read anything else because I was just waiting for *this* book.
His hatred toward Ainsley at the start, despite the love they once shared, completely broke me. I wanted to reach into the pages and help him heal. Watching his emotions shift and evolve throughout the book was absolutely breathtaking.
And Ainsley? She is everything. I love that Gage found someone as strong as her, someone who understands him with just a glance, an emotion. To me, she is the perfect match for him. Sheโs both fierce and broken, and I adored her character.
Their story was so intenseโit made me feel everything. Hatred, joy, heartbreakโฆ so many emotions packed into one book.
If I had one small complaint, it would be the time jump between the final chapter and the epilogue. I know weโll get our answers in the next series, but I was left feeling like there was more to uncover about Gage and Ainsley. Still, I trust Brandy Hynes, and I *cannot* wait for whatโs next!
Thank you, Brandy Hynes, for this breathtaking series and for giving Gage and Ainsley the story they deservedโall in just one year! I canโt wait to keep exploring this universe.
I loved this book so much! KORT has become one of my all time favorite series and I canโt believe itโs over! Each book just got better and better but I am truly obsessed with each couple. This book is so beautifully written, I am obsessed with Brandyโs writing and will read anything she writes. There was depth to the characters, a great plot, and the spice was top tier! This book follows Ainsley and Gage and is a second chance romance. The angst and tension between these two!! I couldnโt even handle it! The flashbacks when Ainsley and Gage first met and then them being reunited all these years later. I really felt for Ainsley especially watching her try to process and work through the feelings that Gage replaced her with his โnew familyโ. But I love that she could hold her own and stood her ground. Gage loved Ainsley so much and I loved how he always reassured her and how they both helped each other heal. Just like the other books I love the found family aspect and how they all accepted Ainsley and had their own relationship with her too. I am truly so sad that this series is over but I canโt wait to see what Brandy writes next!

No one will ever understand the scream that came out of me when I was picked to read this ARC. This series was my first mafia dark romance book.. Did I have to open it to know it was a 5โญ๏ธ read, NO bc hello itโs BRANDY FREAKING HYNES. And if youโve read the previous ones from this series youโd know that this was going to be just as awesome. When I say this book did not fall short and itโs the last in the series so she had to go out with a banger and I applaud you Bc OH MY GOSH! Brandy gives meaning to what found family trope is. The FMCs in all her books are lovable, strong, independent, fierce women. Ainsley fit the profile. LISTEN when I tell you the goosebumps that rose from within me while reading just the first chapter alone, I was done. Letโs break it down. Ainsley 8years ago had to bury the love of her life, Josh aka Gage! (But sheโs married) Now years later sheโs in trouble, Mafia problems bc she ๐ช! for the last month sheโs been a nomad in safe houses,When she calls a number from her burner, sheโs informed that theyโre dead, but not to worry bc she will be safe. Who comes in for the rescue, Celeste and Ty! While Ainsley is in the house she notices this grizzly tatted man, but when he hears her voice.. itโs like an echo from the past and he unravels! The tension these two are giving are every bit of delicious youโd want to read and gobble up. Iโll just say this- a fork! ๐ด
If you are looking for a mafia romance thatโs enemies to lovers & second chance read, this book is for you. If you are like me, have tissues ready.. And some batteries. Brandy Hynes is the master of balance when it comes to Plot & Spice. The PLOT be plotting AND the SPICE be spicing.
