It’s a bad idea, and I know it, especially since Kendra Hart has had a hold over me since our freshman year of college. She has no idea how I feel, and I have zero control over my mouth when her life goes up in smoke and she needs a friend, along with a place to stay.

My coach, who also happens to be my stepdad, is warning me to stay away not only for the team's sake but to spare me from getting hurt. I should probably listen to his advice.     If you know me, then you know one of my absolute favorite series is the Seattle Scorpions. When I heard we were going to be getting a new series, and that Jack Morgan would be the star of book1, I was so excited. Well let me tell you, Ruth herself delivered in every single aspect, did not hold back, and made me fall so in love with the New York Blades.

    There's nothing like a King who is obsessed, worships the ground she walk on, loves with all of his heart and I am so feral for him. From the beginning the chemistry was on point between Jack & Kendra, their connection, the banter and sass was just so delicious and beautiful and I couldn't get enough. I just absolutely loved everything that they are, from the way that Jack was so down bad for her but also still raw and vulnerable from his family traumas to the way that Kendra is this fiery, fierce, independent queen, but she's also raw and passionate and vulnerable and beautiful.

    After her last relationship, she's numb, used to not being treated like she matters, and it's through the love, patience and treatment that Jack gives her that she learns to open up her heart and find her true place. Together they are so beautiful and bold and I am obsessed with them. The spice is also spicing, its hot and raw and steamy and everything and more.

    Plus, just as is with these teams, the banter and chemistry of the players is on fire. We meet many of Jack's teammates and let me tell you, I already know based of the jokes, the banter and the level of sass that I am going to absolutely love them. We also get some cameos from our favorite Scorpions, and the found family in them makes my heart melt.

    I can not tell you how much I love Ruth's stories, these characters are so beautiful and funny and have so much depth and passion and I cannot get enough of them!! I can not wait to see what's next for the New York Blades!!

    Deke is everything you want in a book boyfriend—charming, protective, and a little bit rough around the edges. But what really stood out to me was how multi-dimensional he was. Sure, he has that tough exterior, but there’s a lot more going on underneath, and I loved peeling back those layers. And let’s not forget the heroine—she was smart, strong, and had a fire to her that I really admired. The dynamic between them was electric, with that perfect mix of banter and deeper emotional connection.

There were moments of tension, but also a lot of lightheartedness that made it such an enjoyable read. I appreciated how the author balanced those heavier moments with some real laugh-out-loud scenes, which gave the book a great flow.

    I've never given an ♾️⭐️ before but that was my immediate thought after finishing Perfect Deke. Ruth Stilling's storytelling continues to blossom with each book & this one is my favorite to date. I love the unrequited love, the pining, the drama & angst. This is the second generation from her Seattle Scorpions series but it feels as it's intended: a brand new series with some familiar faces. You don't need to have read the previous series to jump into this one (but I highly recommend it).

    Perfect Deke is Jack Morgan's story. He's an NHL rookie on the team his stepdad is coaching & is now teammates with his college rival, the guy who got the girl that Jack's been pining for. Pro soccer player Kendra has sacrificed a lot for her relationship but is finally ready to cut off the guy who doesn't treat her well. Jack sees this as his opportunity & when Kendra needs a place to stay he offers her his spare room. They are friends, they fake date to help get her ex & his teammate off her back, but quickly their fake relationship transforms into something real...

    This has so much heart, sweetness, tension & drama with the ex - I absolutely ate it up. Jack is sweet, attentive & is the definition of falling hard & fast. He finally has the girl and wants to show her how she should be treated - like she is his world. I love how Kendra finally has someone to treat her right and opens her eyes up to what a relationship should be. Jack is the perfect book boyfriend (with a dirty mouth). The spice hits perfectly & I just ate this story up. And if you like spice - wait until chapter 29 🥵

    We also get introduced to a whole new crew & the easter eggs we get from potential future storylines just have me so excited. There's a great group of guys but also the girl group we get introduced to might just rival the first gen. I am so excited for this series & can't wait until the next book drops.

    Ok. I’m FERAL for Jack Morgan. There I said it… I’ve inhaled this book in the last 24 hours and let me tell you that the mouth on that man and his love and obsession for Kendra Hart has had me squealing!!!

    He’s had a thing for Kendra for 4 years, since their college days, but she’s always been out of reach- having been dating his hockey rival Tyler Bennett.. he’s wanted her from afar for so long.
    But just when it looks like Kendra’s luck has run out and she needs somewhere to stay Jack comes swooping in to her rescue and offers her a place to live.

    He shows her what it should be like to be worshipped and respected by a boyfriend, with his dimple, his cheeky English charm and dirty mouth! Let’s just say the truck scene and elevator scene will live rent free in my head for all of eternity…..🤭

    I’ve got no words to describe how incredible this book is- this is the first in the Blades Kings series- it was spectacular, the appearances from Jon and Felicity just add to how great it was, as well as Darcy making an appearance and the little Easter eggs of what’s to come for Sawyer’s book next!

    You’ll need an ice bucket and some time to yourself after this read because it’ll have you swooning and sweating all in one sitting!
