Florida State University hosted its annual FSU Authors Day, a celebration that brought together the FSU community to honor 85 faculty and staff authors showcasing a wide range of publications from various fields.

The event highlighted scholarly monographs, textbooks, handbooks, edited volumes, music scores, poetry and novels released in 2024.

“The books on display reflect the depth of our academic community,” said FSU Provost Jim Clark. “From groundbreaking research to insightful analyses, from powerful creative works to indispensable textbooks, these publications represent years — sometimes decades — of dedication, curiosity and perseverance.”

“To all of you, congratulations,” he added. “Thank you for making FSU great and for really showing the world what a great institution of higher learning does and the important role of writing and authorship, creativity, producing, filmmaking, all the variety of things we do on this campus and the production that our faculty produce every year.”

This year’s Authors Day recognized 97 books and compositions from across 13 colleges, the Offices of Human Resources and Administration, created by 85 authors.

“The FSU faculty and staff are the heart and soul of the university,” said Gale Etschmaier, dean of University Libraries. “Their scholarship is used in the teaching they do with all of our students. They are really changing the world with the research they’re doing, and they are representing the best of higher education.”

This year’s reception took place at the Beth Moor Lounge in the Longmire Building and was organized by the Florida State University Libraries and the Office of Faculty Development.
