Dear Roger,

No one expected 2020 to be like this. Even through tremendous struggles and challenges, Catholics worked together for a brighter future.

The world has endured so much heartache this year. Yet in many ways, you and this movement have made 2020 more inspiring than anyone could have imagined.

Who predicted that more than 4,000 people would become Laudato Si’ Animators, champions for Catholic action on the climate crisis?

As the COVID-19 pandemic locked down the world in May, who would have guessed that hundreds of thousands of Catholics would overcome obstacles and unite to honor the fifth anniversary of Laudato Si’?

Amid crises shaking our foundation, who thought that hundreds of thousands of Christians would come together in prayer and action for our common home during the Season of Creation?

Roger, that’s the power of the Holy Spirit uniting you and this movement. Watch more below:

This is just the beginning. Great challenges and inspiring opportunities await this movement in 2021. But for now, take time to appreciate the inspiration and hope you brought to the world in 2020.

Blessings,

Christina Leaño

Praying together on Friday

Every month, this movement comes together to pray and hear creation’s song, cry, and invitation. Join us on Friday during the final prayer service of 2020, featuring a reflection from Bishop Robert McElroy of the Diocese of San Diego (USA), who has said that climate change should be "a central priority" for the U.S. Catholic Church.
