These hats are the same pattern, the Shikโis Hat, making for a beautiful illustration of that universal truth of colorwork: the palette you choose makes your creation absolutely unique.
Another thing we love about Jennifer Berg as a designer is how she adapts her arresting patterns for different accessories. Along with the Shikโis hat she has a Shikโis cowl and a Shikโis headband.
About this collection, she says:
"Shikโis (my friend in Navajo) hat is inspired by Acoma pottery. I obviously draw so much inspiration from this particular type of pottery and admire the curves, bold black lines against the white clay and the subtle pops of color. Everyone needs a great beanie to wear on those cold morning walks as the sun is still warming up the land.
I named my Collection Shikโis (my Friend) because Iโd love for you to make and gift any of these patterns to a loved one, a new friend, or your family members over this season. Iโd love to see the finished product, use #shikiscollection."
Sara also recently made the Peaceful Peoples hat, below left. She went stash diving for her project, something we fully support, but if you want a recommendation may we suggest mixing it up a little by pairing Mad Tosh with Cirro, the new sport weight Suri alpaca blend from The Fibre Co?
