Fear so often is the driving force in people’s lives: fear of missing out, of failure, of death, of the future, of financial loss, of what people think of me, etc. God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power, of love, and of a sound mind. Instead of being driven by fear, we need to turn to God in trust. He says that He will lead us for His name’s sake. Notice that we will be led, not driven. Panic, anxiety, and fear that drive us are not from God. He will go before us and be with us in His dealings to guide us.
Sometimes fear is paralyzing, and we cannot move forward because we are afraid. That's not from the Lord either. Whether we are making a decision out of fear or failing to decide out of fear, we need to evaluate what is motivating us.
We need to be able to identify what is going on inside and not be governed by wrong motives. Oh, there may be fears within and problems without, but we don’t have to be ruled by them. “Search me, Oh God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties; And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting.” (Psalm 139:23-24 - NKJV)
